Results from D1 Nationals Day 2

Nikola Lomnicka, sophomore from Georgia, did not dissapoint yesterday in the women’s hammer competition at day 2 of the D1 NCAA National Championships.  She has been atop the leaderboard for most of outdoor season.  She opened up the competition with a decisive 64.19m, which proved to be the best mark in the competition until her final attempt in which she hit 65.57 meters.  Her brother is the favorite to win the men’s competition today.

NCAA D1 Nationals – Results from Day 1

Wednesday marked the opening day of the national championships for NCAA Division 1, held at the historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.  The weather was unseasonably cool and was a mix of rain and sun throughout the day.

Sitek and Larson win Discus Titles

WIAC athletes claimed both the men’s and women’s discus titles at the D3 National Championships.  Senior Ellie Sitek of UW-Oshkosh hit a PR in round three with a mark of 50.53 m, and then followed it up with improving her PR to 50.62m  in the first round of the final, to finish more than 10 feet ahead of the second place finisher.
