UW-Whitewater will host the Masters Midwest Regional Championship Pentathlon & Elite Meet on Sunday June 10, 2012. The meet is USATF sanctioned, so marks will qualify for those trying to improve marks for the Olympic Trials. The pentathlon consists of the shot put, discus, hammer throw, weight throw, and javelin. A couple of weeks ago, we were at a meet where a competitor was in the process of entering the shot put circle and realized he had not taken the Tshirt that he was wearing over his jersey off. Last week Jacko Gill announced that he would bypass seeking selection to the Olympic Games in London, in order to focus on the World Junior Championships in Barcelona. Congratulations to Shelbi Vaughan from Mansfield, Texas, who PR’d by 14 feet at the Texas Relays last Friday to establish a new National Record for the high school girls discus.
