This week’s video drill of the week features the two-turn drill for the rotational shot put. The two-turn drill adds a bit more complexity to the throw, forcing the athlete to slow down out of the back of the circle and focus on the rhythm of the throw. The thrower must be in a good power position with weight on the back foot in order to complete the second turn. This allows the athlete to develop the sense of timing and patience in letting the lower body work ahead of the upper body in the power position. This drill should be done outside the shot put circle, allowing for plenty of space for the athlete to safely complete the movement.
